What do you wish to dare?
This is the question for the week over at Jamie Ridler’s blog for Wishcasting Wednesday.
Oh, yummy.
See that picture up there? It was one way to get through 365 Days when I didn’t want to see my own face for another day, but it is such a strong metaphor for being hushed up, closed in, dulled down.
I wish to dare to shine.
Not just a little twinkle, the whole huge bright burning light that I was born with, that is only meant to go out when I die, and not a moment before. Yes, that light. We all have one, and most of us spend our lives putting lids on it, hiding it under a lampshade, kicking it under the bed.
I wish to dare to claim myself as an artist and writer.
It’s not just about what I do but who I am. I was these things when I was 9 years old; so why am I not now? That clinches it. I am. Even if I have to pretend to be 9.
I wish to dare to say out loud those things that might make me seem silly, naive, or even difficult.
I will advocate for myself, my health, my choices, and my life without batting an eyelash.
And I wish these things for you as well!

Love it! Take off that bag and claim who you are — the artist, the writer, the shiny, silly, naive, difficult Sara! Because I, for one, think she is awesome.
