It’s Art Every Day Month around here!
***
Since I’m doing the Week of Life project, I’ve been noticing more and more things around me to photograph. One thing I’ve noticed is how much life there still is outside even though it is late November. I never before noticed the grain-like weeds, and the vines and berries of fall! I’ve taken a bunch of photos in the last few days and have been tinkering with them using the techniques I’ve learned in Visual Poetry. I’m finally getting that dreamy, muted, vintage-y effect I love so much. Here’s the best ones from the last few days. Enjoy!

As you may have noticed, Music Medicine Saturdays are on a wee hiatus, since I’m focusing more on Visual Poetry and Art Every Day Month, both of which have been keeping me busy! As if that weren’t enough, yesterday I began Week of Life, a week-long photo challenge where you express your day in 9 photos, for a total of 63 at the end of the week. I’ll be sure to post here when my week is over!
The good thing about Week of Life is that it has me thinking about how everything looks through a camera lens again, which is making me take lots of pictures. So much so that I have to charge my camera battery halfway through the day. ;)
On Thursday I started painting over that blue canvas I showed you. As soon as I had the phoenix painted, I hated it. Hated it, hated it, hated it. Was very bummed since it was meant to be my healing artwork for Goddess School. I have since started over with it — back to the blue as much as I can. I’ll post updates as it goes along, it’s basically just salvaged now and not gone much further.
This weekend has been mostly about photography — as always you can see my digital photo manipulations in my Visual Poetry folder on flickr. Today while out driving I kept seeing these amazing “fields of gold” and whenever I would pull over to photograph the shining weeds, the sun would go in. I find myself so amazed by how the entire length of our short autumn days seem to be filled with the light of “magic hour”.. I saw that amazing light when I awoke, and it was still shining at 2pm, casting long hard shadows and setting alight anything it kissed. Of course it was also playing peek-a-boo with me behind the clouds, but it was magic light nonetheless.
And today when looking in the closet for Christmas boxes, I found a half-completed collage on posterboard. The backdrop in black and white was finished.. I had left the mosaic letters in color to do later… and never did. But “later” was today as I got down on the floor with colored magazine clippings and my glue stick. I still need to outline the letters and Mod Podge the whole thing, but here ya go.. Make Art. This will hopefully be a great reminder for me when Art Every Day Month is over to keep on! And to keep on even when you’ve just created something that you hate hate hate. There’s always the next thing; as long as I’m breathing I’m not “done”!

It’s Art Every Day Month around here!

Another low-key Art Every Day Month day, but small things eventually lead to bigger things, and hopefully in a few days I’ll have some fun stuff to show you! Right now I’m multi-tasking on multiple pieces that don’t look like much at the moment.. art journal pages, and tonight I prepped a few canvasses for new works. And I also had some header/banner/avatar ideas for soulspackle.com, the main blog (that isn’t up yet) and my eventual soulspackle store on etsy (which will be my “other stuff” besides photography, as in my soularchitect shop).
To get an idea what I’ve been working on without my giving specifics away, think about goddesses, hamsas, zentangles, full moons and trees, and of course, wings. Wings are turning up everywhere. :) I’m also incorporating a dreamcatcher to add dimension to my healing artwork for Goddess School.
I apologize I haven’t had much time to comment on others’ blogs in the last week or so, nor have I responded to comments. I’m just recovering from a 10-or-so-day downturn in my health (which I try not to moan about here, but I guess I just did) and am hoping for happier, healthier days ahead!
*The photo above I’m considering cleaning up for a set of greeting cards featuring my Lakshmi statue! She’s teeny tiny, smaller than my pinky finger (she’s sitting in a tealight candle here!), and I find her fun to photograph.

Again I have been quite busy sprinkling doodling and art journaling throughout my days, not to mention time spent here and there with beads and acrylics and canvas in the hopes to make a larger piece. November has been magic! And I will upload some photos soon to show you what I’ve been working on. For now, I’ve got the photo above from yesterday’s foray into catching up on Visual Poetry. You can view my whole Visual Poetry set on flickr here.
I have been preoccupied with other things, trying to catch up in Goddess School for one. Goddess School’s Creative Goddess course is more about just making art; it also involves amazing meditations (that I love but resist) and healing work that takes time.
One major breakthrough for me, though? After over a year of putting it off, I finally added photo prints to my Etsy shop! I hope to be adding greeting cards soon. Whee!
